Description of Application Process
Effective January 15, 2012, all requests for funding, must be via a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) using our new online application.
Letter of Inquiry:
The LOI can be found
here. First time users will be prompted to set up an online profile. This profile will allow you to access the LOI. When submitted, you will receive confirmation via email that it was received.
Initial Review:
You will be notified regarding the disposition of your LOI no later than 30 days after it was received. Please note that the Foundation will make every effort to expedite the LOI review process and communicate its decision as quickly as possible.
- ➢ If the Foundation is interested in considering a full grant proposal, the organization will be notified via email. The Foundation's general grant guidelines and eligibility criteria can be found here.
- ➢ If the proposed request is not determined to fit within the Foundation's current areas of interest, the organization will be notified via letter.
Online Application:
If your LOI is selected for a full grant proposal, you will receive a link to the online application. Your online profile will allow you several options -- access to the application, returning to an incomplete application and viewing previously submitted applications.
Evaluation Forms:
The Foundation's evaluation forms may be found here. The evaluation report for previous funding is a required part of the application process.
Review Process and Recommendations:
Once the full proposal has been received, it will be assigned to a grant officer who will conduct the necessary due diligence and review, which may include a site visit.
Board Action:
The Simmons Foundation Board of Directors meet on a quarterly basis to vote on the proposals reviewed during that quarter. After the Board meeting, organizations are notified via letter regarding the disposition of their request.
- ➢ Organizations selected for funding will receive a notification letter along with two copies of a contract, one of which must be signed and returned to the Foundation. Upon receipt of the signed contract, the Foundation will process payment of the grant.
- ➢ Organizations not selected for funding will receive a letter informing them of the Foundation's decision.
